🔗 Web App

The Web App Publishing feature in AppStruct allows you to publish your application as a web app directly to the internet, providing a simple and effective way to share your app with users. With a few clicks, you can generate a live version of your project, hosted on AppStruct's domain, and accessible via a custom subdomain of your choice.

This guide will provide a step-by-step explanation on how to use the Web App Publishing feature, helping you to make your project publicly available on the web.

Steps to Publish Your Web App

  1. In your AppStruct workspace, locate and click on the "Publishing" icon in the Menu Bar on the left side of the screen.
  2. Under the "Select Platform" section, you will see a dropdown menu labeled "Platform".
  3. Click on the dropdown and choose "Web App" as the platform you want to publish your project on.

Customizing Your Web App Subdomain

Under the "Subdomain on AppStruct" field, enter the subdomain name you want to use for your web app.

  • The full web address will be in the format <your-subdomain>.appstruct.app.
  • Example: If you enter "my-awesome-app", your app will be available at my-awesome-app.appstruct.app.

Publishing the App

Once your subdomain is set up, you are ready to publish your app to the web.

  1. After configuring the subdomain, click on the "Publish" button located at the bottom of the Publishing section.
  2. The deployment process may take a few minutes (usually 5-7 min) as the app is built and deployed. You will be notified when the deployment is successful.
  3. Once the publishing process is complete, you can access your app by navigating to the subdomain URL provided in the Publishing section (e.g., my-awesome-app.appstruct.app).

Best Practices

To ensure a smooth publishing experience, consider the following best practices:

  1. Test Thoroughly Before Publishing:
    • Make sure to thoroughly test your app in Preview Mode before publishing it to the web.
  2. Use a Clear and Memorable Subdomain:
    • Choose a subdomain that is easy to remember and reflective of your app’s purpose to ensure your audience can easily find it.
  3. Optimize for Different Devices:
    • Ensure that your app is responsive and looks great on different screen sizes (mobile, tablet, desktop) before publishing.
  4. Update Regularly:
    • You can republish your app at any time to deploy new updates or changes.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues while using the Web App Publishing feature, refer to the troubleshooting steps below:

Issue 1: Unable to Publish the App

  • Solution:
    • Ensure that you have filled in all required fields, including the subdomain name.
    • Check your internet connection and try publishing again.

Issue 2: Subdomain Is Already Taken

  • Solution:
    • If the chosen subdomain is already in use, select a different name that is unique.

Issue 3: Changes Not Reflected After Publishing

    • If your changes are not visible after publishing, try republishing the app.
    • Clear your browser cache and refresh the page.
